NMOP – Bigger and Better!

We’re Growing Our Niagara Mobile Outreach Team!

The Niagara Mobile Outreach Program has been serving meals throughout Niagara for over five years! For six nights a week, every week, all year long since 2011, the Food Truck has continued to meet and assist the homeless and hungry within our communities. With the help of amazing volunteers, the Outreach Staff Team has been able to help hundreds of individuals have at least one good meal that day, get to a shelter or even stay warm in a sleeping bag if they choose to sleep outside. This work is vital to keeping hope alive for those living in crisis and despair. Now, this crucial service is expanding! As of mid-February, we have hired three new individuals to fill the role of a Community Program Coordinator (CPC) serving the whole Niagara Region!

What does that mean exactly?

It means increased support for clients and a personalized care plan! Our CPC’s will be whatever the clients need them to be. They will take referrals from the Outreach Workers, our Food Banks or other agencies and layout a person-centered plan to help clients reach their goals – that could be for more stable housing, tenancy education, obtaining employment, better money management or improved health, they will be their support and walk with each client until they achieve success!

The advantage to these new roles is the ability to overcome the barriers to service many clients face. If transportation is an issue, the CPC can drive clients to their appointments. If literacy is a challenge, the CPC can assist with the completion of forms. The Community Program Coordinators will help clients to navigate the social service system in Niagara.

How can you reach a Community Program Coordinator in your area?

By contacting any of The Salvation Army offices, or directly using the contact information listed below. While each Coordinator is assigned to specific areas, they work together as a team and can take on clients in any location throughout Niagara.
