A Point-in-Time count was conducted in the Niagara Region on March 27, 2018 by 87 volunteers and 75 community agency staff. Data like this is important in order to better understand homelessness in Niagara and allows agencies to better respond to it.
Beginning on July 4, 2018, a new pilot project named Out of the Heat will commence for people experiencing homelessness. When shelters are full, people can attend Out of the Heat at Grace Anglican Church for a cool place to sleep and receive light snacks.
Participants are encouraged to utilize other community agencies and churches, such as the Niagara Mobile Outreach truck meals, to receive dinner prior to attending, and visit St. George’s breakfast program the following morning (Mon-Sun 7:30 am-8:30 am).
