Our St. Catharines Mobile Outreach Worker Meghan had the pleasure of joining James Symons and Mayor Walter Sendzik at the St. Catharines city hall yesterday to kick off the 2018 Tool Box Niagara campaign. Last winter, James campaigned for boxes filled with personal care supplies, snacks and warm items to be donated and distributed to men in need. Staff and volunteers on our Mobile Outreach Truck were happy to hand these out last year and are looking forward to seeing the holiday joy and comfort they will bring this winter when we distribute them. Thanks for working with us, James!

If anyone is interested in putting together a toolbox for the campaign, please reach out to James on the Toolbox Project’s Facebook page: facebook.com/toolboxniagara or by email, jamessymons79@gmail.com.

Out of the Heat: Emergency Shelter July 4-Aug 31, 2018

OOTH (1)

Beginning on July 4, 2018, a new pilot project named Out of the Heat will commence for people experiencing homelessness. When shelters are full, people can attend Out of the Heat at Grace Anglican Church for a cool place to sleep and receive light snacks.

Participants are encouraged to utilize other community agencies and churches, such as the Niagara Mobile Outreach truck meals, to receive dinner prior to attending, and visit St. George’s breakfast program the following morning (Mon-Sun 7:30 am-8:30 am).
